The terroir in Serbia is the only place where Backa feels at home. Efforts to cultivate outside Serbia have failed. The substantial growth in hop fields in the Czech Republic, Germany and Slovenia has pushed Serbian hops somewhat into oblivion. But hop growing has never been lost in the Vojvodina region. Through its long history, Backa has proven to be an ideal hop for pilsners.
